Winter is now upon us, along with all the challenges it brings. That’s why we wanted to remind you of some things worth paying extra attention to in order to minimize the risk of incidents.
Below is a list of rules and tips for reducing the risk of incidents.
- Be especially careful with self-inspections: Pay attention to precariously loaded cargo (Bygel and LVX); check that the tie-downs haven’t come loose due to temperature changes; and make sure the flatbeds have been treated with anti-skid material.
- Vehicle inspections are more important than ever!
- Watch out for supports or trestles that get caught under suspended objects, which may suddenly come loose.
- Always make sure your workplace or unloading area is free of ice and snow to significantly reduce the risk of incidents and thus ensure a safe working environment.
- Do not drive into areas where ice and snow have not been cleared.
- Never climb to heights over 2 meters unless adequate fall protection is in place. Even if you want to be solution-oriented and helpful. If a heated discussion arises, contact management.
- Always wear a safety helmet with a chin strap, safety goggles, safety shoes, and Class 3 high-visibility clothing.
- Be methodical in your approach to securing loads and other safety-critical tasks. And don’t let others interrupt or distract you while you’re performing these tasks. It’s okay to speak up!
