Snow and Ice in the Workplace

In construction work environments, inadequate snow removal can create potentially dangerous situations.

Areas that are not properly cleared of snow may conceal black ice beneath the snow cover, resulting in extremely slippery conditions; potholes may also be hidden beneath the snow, which can make the surface unsafe for parking.

In such a situation, vehicles—such as delivery trucks—can lose traction and slide onto the construction site. This can lead to collisions with other vehicles or machinery on site and pose a serious risk of injury. Although the accident may not result in serious injuries every time, there is always the potential for serious consequences.

It is of the utmost importance to maintain safe work environments by regularly assessing and addressing risks. All parties at the construction site should be aware of these potential hazards and take preventive measures to ensure a safe work environment.
