The temperature was around -5 to 0 degrees. There was ice and snow, which likely meant there was virtually no friction. Under such conditions, it’s more or less only the load securing that keeps the load in place. Since the load was also a so-called wide load and the elements protruded beyond the edges of the trailer, securing it with posts is not possible.
Extra securing measures (at least three lashings per load) must be used when transporting cargo in these weather conditions. To increase friction, the underlay and surfaces must also be sanded or salted.
