Due to inadequate individual load securing, these beams tipped over on the access road to a work site. The beams were secured with a total of four chains using cross-lashing, together with four posts. Many would likely have considered this to be adequate load securing, which is why this type of cargo is overrepresented in the near-miss statistics.

If these beams had been cross-braced instead, this would not have happened. That is why it is of the utmost importance to follow the established procedures in this regard and not rely solely on experience.
